„Hofer – der Stadtwirt“ is situated in Munich’s oldest townhouse (1551/1552) in Munich’s city centre (only 1 min by foot from the Marienplatz). Get spoiled by the typical Bavarian – Austrian cuisine served in three floors or in the courtyard by good weather conditions. For example Jungschweinbraten (roast from the young pork), Steirischem Backhendlsalat (salad of baked chicken from the Austrian region Steiermark), Eingelegtem Tafelspitz (boiled beef filet) and for confection of pastries Kaiserschmarrn (cut up sugared pancake with raisins), Topfenstrudel (curd strudel), Marillenknödl (apricot dumplings). It´s a fine idea to accompany those dishes with some austrian wine or a glass of the famous Bavarian Löwenbräu beer.

Also worth tying are the „Wirtschaftswunderspeisen“ so called retro food which consists of dishes like Falsches Lachsbrot (fake salmon on bread) or Restaurationsbrot (bread with different shifts of ingridients). “Hofer – der Stadtwirt” has space for events for 15 up to 110 people. |

If somebody feel like exploring history and architecture after the meal people don’t even have to leave the building. Besides the beautiful over 450 year old gothic cross-shaped vaults on the ground level and in the basement there are the “Himmelsleiter” and the “Schneckenturm” the short name is “Schneck” to discover. From the outside people can see the “Ohrwaschln” (the auricles) of the house and the facade from Hans Mielich (1516-1573) which got rediscovered in 1961 and restored in 1963 in the style of Mannerism.
