Public Pools, Biking and Fairs
Munich’s Public Pools
Whether it’s summer or winter, kids that love to go for a swim can do so at
their heart’s delight in Munich’s numerous public pools, where water slides,
diving boards, or artificial waves make going for a dip lots of fun.
Müller’sches Volksbad, an Art Nouveau jewel, is particularly centrally located.
Built just before the turn of the century, it is a piece of architectural eye
candy you shouldn’t miss if you love going for a swim in a truly exceptional
setting. Inside, you will not only find a pool but also an Irish-Roman sweat
bath, a sauna, tubs and shower baths as well as a solarium.
Riding a Bike
Fairs
Spring and autumn are peak seasons in the fair business. It’s when the Frühlingsfest
(Spring Fair) and world-famous Octoberfest lure visitors that are attracted
by breezy rides and lots of goodies – from gingerbread hearts to candyfloss.
Three times a year – in May, July and October -, the Auer Dult, a traditional
Munich fair, is held at Mariahilfplatz in the Au district. More than 300 stall
holders and showmen turn the Auer Dult into a fair that attracts adults and
children alike
