The Kulturhaus Milbertshofen
Munich's Department for Cultural Infrastructure is responsible for the renovation, construction and planning of Munich's cultural establishments. Current prominent examples include the impending renovation of the municipal gallery, the Städtische Galerie, in the Lenbachhaus and of the Munich City Museum as well as the construction of the Jüdisches Museum at Jakobsplatz.
Another area of responsibility is our support for Munich's cultural centres, cultural shops, houses of culture and club rooms in Munich's various districts.
We see the creation of a cultural infrastructure as an important contribution to urban living, a contribution principally borne by a large number of citizens working in an honorary capacity. Munich's districts currently run 30 cultural facilities of the most varied kinds. They are a mirror of the diversity of city and suburban cultural life. All these tasks are worked on in close cooperation with district representatives and the clubs and associations active in each district.
