Munich was the city where in 1919-20, the NSDAP was founded, and it continued as the seat of the party's headquaters for the entire Reich until 1945. It was here that Adolf Hitler and other infamous leading players if the NS regime started their political careers. From 1933 Munich was known as the "Capital of the Movement". It was here where a programme of racist aggression was devised and where plans for the military offensive werde drawn up. It was also where plans were advanced to eliminate all political opposition and those art movements which incurred the disapproval of the Party. Dachau, one of the first concentration camps, was established near here, and it was that the scheme for the systematic persecution of Europe's Jews was set in motion. Munich, a city which had always been at home with festivities, became willing backdrop for NS ritualic stage managed events, for purpose of propaganda with far-reaching impact. It was the scene of the fateful "Munich Agreement". Whoerver dared show any resistance, was persecuted, locked or executed.
