Münchner Kammerspiele

Münchner Kammerspiele

From the very first the Münchner Kammerspiele, foundet in 1911 and since 1926 having its home in an art nouveau building, which was built by Richard Riemerschmid in the Maximiliansstreet round about the turn of the century, is among the best German theatres. Directors like Otto Falckenberg, Hans Schweikart, August Everding and Dieter Dorn significantly shaped the artistic profile of the theatre.

From season 2001/2002 on Frank Baumbauer has taken over the direction of the Münchner Kammerspiele. With their newly put together ensemble Frank Baumbauer and his dramatic advisors are searching in theatrical classics as well as in works of a new generation of authors a sociopolitical examination of the present.

Receiving the award "Theater des Jahres 2005, its repeated invitations to the Berliner Theatertreffen, its guest performances on numerous important stages and festivals inland and abroard, still proof the artistic degree of the Münchner Kammerspiele.
