Airport and exhibition center

Munich Airport is situated about 30 km (as the crow flies) north of the city center. More than 30 million passengers (in 2006) make this the seventh-busiest airport in Europe, and easily Germany's number two. Opened in 1992, the airport today boasts connections to 164 European, 35 Asian, 25 North American, 18 African and 2 South American destinations. The number of direct flights has also risen. And the airport further consolidated its leading position when Terminal 2 went off the blocks in 2003. Concrete plans for a third runway confirm that Munich Airport remains on course for exceptional growth.

Capital goods, consumer goods and new technologies are the focus of shows and events held at Munich's exhibition center. Hosting 40 or so industry-focused trade shows, Messe München International (MMI) ranks as a leading international exhibition company. More than 30,000 exhibitors from over 100 countries and more than two million visitors from around 180 countries attend events in Munich every year. MMI also organizes trade shows in Asia, the Middle East and South America. Its agile global network – four foreign subsidiaries and 62 foreign representations – operates in 86 countries around the world. MMI complements this portfolio of leading international events by offering customers from Germany and abroad opportunities to use the New Exhibition Center, the adjacent International Congress Center (ICM) and the M,O,C event center to stage guest shows and collaborative events.
