EU projects
The Department for Labor and Economic Development's specialist unit for local government employment policy and qualifications sponsors various projects to support a selection of the EU's labor market policy programs.

The European Social Fund (ESF)
The European Social Fund is a tool of labor market policy. According to Article 146 of the EU Treaty, the ESF is to be deployed in particular to provide training and development measures that help employable persons adapt to the needs of the labor market. The ESF is an integral part of the European employment strategy.
The Department of Labor and Economic Development co-funds a selection of ESF projects.

The EQUAL community initiative
The EU's EQUAL program is designed to test new ways and innovative models to fight discrimination and inequality on the labor market. In the context of what are known as "development partnerships" (DPs), economic players work together to implement the defined labor market policy measures. One example is a Munich-based DP entitled "Labor Development in the Greater Munich Area".
17 partners are currently implementing 15 projects in three areas: "Care", "Information technology" and "New mobility". The DP in Munich was devised by the Department of Labor and Economic Development and handed over to equalmünchen GmbH.

XENOS – living and working in diversity
The XENOS program seeks to combat the influence of xenophobia, racism and discrimination in society. At the point where schools meet the world of work, it links labor market policy measures for youngsters and young adults to activities against racism and xenophobia.
Within this framework, the "LIDIA Bavaria" project (a "Bavarian Initiative for Democracy, Intercultural Understanding and Anti-Racism") is co-funded by the Department of Labor and Economic Development via the agency of Munich's "special program to remedy unemployment and lack of qualifications among young people". The project supports intercultural learning and anti-racist tuition in the world of work. In Munich, the main focus is to reach the target group – youngsters and young adults – in an educational and working context.
