Advanced training in Munich:
background information, sponsored projects, trade show information

Background information
The structural transition is demanding that employees achieve new and better qualifications. This is the broadly defined area to which advanced training measures seek to respond. In the sense used here, advanced training means:

  • New kinds of expertise or more in-depth expertise
  • A more detailed knowledge of methods, tools and technologies
  • A better understanding of and more sensitive behavior toward colleagues, superiors, employees and customers
  • Cultivation and better use of personal skills

Sponsored projects
The Structural Transition side of the Munich Employment and Qualifications Program (MBQ) is currently sponsoring the following projects:
  • Advice on advanced training and development at the Munich adult education center. Go here for an exhaustive information brochure about what training and development courses are on offer in Munich.
  • Consulting for employee council members on personnel development issues. This is a model project conducted as a collaborative venture by the Munich adult education center and the National Institute of Vocational Training. In the context of model trials, concepts are tested that will then help employee councils to advance the cause of human resources at the company.
  • Intercompany further training for publishing house employees, under a program entitled "Fit for the publishing world of tomorrow: qualification paths to the digital future" and organized by Verbund Strukturwandel GmbH

Trade show information
The "Advanced training in Munich" trade show for corporate and personal development is organized by IHK-Gesellschaft für Berufs- und Weiterbildung mbH in collaboration with an expert advisory council, on which the Munich Labor Office, the Department of Labor and Economic Development, the Department of School and Cultural Affairs and other relevant bodies are represented. The trade show is held every two years; the sixth one was held in 2003.

The sixth trade show for corporate and personal development ran from March 27 through 29, 2003, at the M.O.C. event center, Lilienthalalle 40, 80939 München, Germany. Over 100 exhibitors – numerous educational establishments, training institutes, individual trainers and companies – were on hand to present their offerings in 2003. In addition, over the three days of the show, no fewer than 80 workshops and presentations showed visitors the latest trends in advanced training and development. Visitors were also encouraged to participate actively in a lively dialogue.
