Project and background information: Munich's special program to remedy unemployment and lack of qualifications among young people

Project information
Munich's special program to remedy unemployment and lack of qualifications among young people is currently sponsoring 15 projects.
Information about career preparation projects in Munich is available from the "Career Preparation Projects" database (bvm) at the sponsored Internet project www.bbinet.de (the Munich vocational training network).

Background information
For young adults with no certificate of secondary education and/or no vocational training under their belt, career prospects can look decidedly bleak. This fact itself generally has a negative influence on their future personal and career development. This is where carefully targeted assistance can bridge the gap between school and training or the world of work, to improve these people's prospects and integrate them in the working community.
It was this realization that, on April 29, 1999, motivated the Council of the City of Munich to launch the special program to remedy unemployment and lack of qualifications among young people. The program was designed to complement measures already applied by the Youth Assistance Organization and the Labor Office.
