

Objectives
This workgroup is an important coordinating body. Its goals including improving the coordination and networking of vocational training and actively promoting the development of young women, foreigners and people at a social disadvantage. It constantly monitors and discusses emerging trends on the labor and apprenticeship market in order to respond swiftly and appropriately to changes. Since October 1999, the workgroup has conducted the Munich Training Conference twice a
year.
Members
The Youth-Education-Career workgroup is moderated by the Mayoress, Dr. Gertraud Burkert, and coordinated by the Department of Labor and Economic Development.
Numerous institutions that are committed to helping young people become integrated in the working community are members of the workgroup. They include the Munich Labor Office, the German trade unions association (DGB), the German Youth Institute, the juvenile court, the various commercial chambers, the Munich District Youth Association, the Munich adult education center, the government of Upper Bavaria, the school supervisory authority, representatives of independent organizations, and the municipal departments of education and culture, social affairs and, of course, the Department of Labor and Economic Development.
