Zugspitze

Germany's highest mountain, culminating at 2,964 meters above sea level. A popular excursion site and winter sport location.

Mentioned for the first time in 1590 as "der Zugspitz". First recorded ascent in 1820.
On the Zugspitze summit are the "Münchner Haus" and a weather station (Fraunhofer Institute for Atmospheric Environmental Research)
