At the idyllic bank of the river Isar in the beautiful area Harlaching the Estate Menterschwaige is situated. It is famous for its cordial hospitality and the excellent cuisine.

The cosy restaurant with a lot of little parlours, a big ballroom and an idyllic courtyard is offering enough space for any kind of festivity. Lying under green chestnut trees the spacious beer garden is inviting to have a cool litre of beer and delicious original Munich specialities. For this reason the Menterschwaige was elected the most beautiful beer garden in the heart of Munich by the popular Munich Newspaper “Abendzeitung”.

For our little guests we not only have a special home made strudel called Millirahmstrudle with a delicious vanilla sauce, a crêpes stand and apple strudels but as well a huge pirate ship, a historical carousel, slides and a colourful jungle gym to play with.

The cuisine of the Menterschwaige is presenting sophisticated, elegant dishes. The chef Volker Naumann is catering for culinary deliciousness which is famous far beyond Munich. Outperforming is for example the dandelion salad with fine dressing and the filet of beef on little potato leaves and truffle puree.

The perfect service and the affectionate hospitality are provided by the manageress Ina Dirr and by the owners Christian und Peter Schottenhamel.

The Menterschwaige has a long traditional history. It was first documentary mentioned in the year 1012. In 1632 it was destroyed during the 30 year’s war by the Swedes and handed over by the elector Ferdinand Maria to the count Maximilian von Kurz. The Schwaige was used as the provisioning estate of the royal dynasty.

Even still today the ancestry of the Menterschwaige is visible by the big cross-shaped vaults.
