Within walking distance from the three State Art Galleries (the Pinakotheken) the area close to the Siegestor (Victory Arch) harbours the main building of Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (the University of Munich) and several of its departments.
Consequently, there are always plenty of students around, searching for books, clothes or simply a place to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee. Most second-hand bookshops are on Schellingstraße, Türkenstraße or nearby streets. Next to some of the oldest pubs in Munich, a number of affordable boutiques can be found here - for a true Munich student style!
