Operating Munich’s underground, buses, and trams, Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG) has played an important part in this success story. Modern, environmentally-friendly cars that are accessible to the physically challenged, well-trained staff, and a wide range of information and other services figure prominently among its strengths.
A total of more than 550 underground cars, 96 trams and over 250 buses belonging to the fleet of MVG parent company Stadtwerke München (SWM) are in service for Germany’s second largest municipal transport operator. What is more, some 200 buses are operated by businesses partnering with MVG.
In Munich, you are never more than a few minutes away from MVG because its network of more than 550 kilometres of lines puts every household within 400 metres of a underground, bus or tram stop.
A strong partner in Munich Transport and Tariff Union (Münchner Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund, MVV), MVG knows Munich’s every nook and cranny. Without MVG and its more than one million passengers per day, the ambience in the City on the Isar River would be sorely lacking. And we want to keep it that way.
