When the sun comes out, local people are drawn to “Flaucher” on the Isar river. This section got its name from the inn “Zum Flaucher” which was opened by Johann Flaucher in 1871.
Soon city dwellers in search of relaxation flocked in droves to the Isar floodplains, a river whose wild character is still perceptible today. Subsequent to the renovation of the inn this long-standing tradition is now continued: In the beer garden of the inn beer and traditional meals are served far removed from the city’s hustle and bustle.
Tradition and Customs
Here tradition is still alive: In addition to home-made dishes, such as apple strudel and “Fleischpflanzerl” (meat balls) accompanied by Munich draft beer, Bavarian customs are honored and forgotten habits are revived: In the beer garden brass bands strike up their tunes, whip-crackers and Schuhplattler dancers demonstrate old Bavarian customs. Furthermore, there are numerous events especially for children, such as historical games, pony riding and wooden games, as well as a great new playground.
Both the beer garden and the restaurant serve nothing but Bavarian dishes and the “old” Munich cuisine. Restaurant and terrace provide space for up to 70 persons and offer a magnificent setting for your next event. The proverbial Munich “Gemütlichkeit” (conviviality) is at the center of the inn "Zum Flaucher", which is also an ideal destination for a nice Sunday walk from the nearby Brudermühlbrücke or the Hellabrunn zoo.
