Public Phones in Munich
Making telephone calls from within Munich is unproblematic. To make it even easier for you, we've prepared some tips on how to save money and pay without using cash. When using a phone booth there are two options:
1. Using coins
When using coins, be certain to insert only small denominations (5, 10, 20, or 50 cent coins). If you use a 1 or 2 Euro coin, the phone is much more likely to keep your left-over change.
2. Buy a phone card from a kiosk or a Deutsche Post post office
Deutsche Telekom has phone cards which can be used at most telephone booths throughout Munich. Most post offices and all kiosks sell them. They are available in various different denominations and work out significantly cheaper than using a mobile phone. They also save you the trouble of collecting change, especially if you have to make several phone calls. Simply insert the card and dial, your balance is visible as you speak.
