Gallery of Modern Art
The Museum Lenbachhaus houses a unique colleciton of works from the group of painters and artists known as 'Blauer Reiter'. The museum highlights, besides art of the 19th century, also contemporary art.
'Typically Munich!' is the exhibition on the history of Munich. Photography, contemporary history, musical instruments, puppet theater and fairground attractions all have their place in this varied museum, including the Filmmuseum.
Museum Villa Stuck
This villa, with its historical rooms, was conceived as a complete and holistic piece of art by Franz von Stuck (1863 - 1928). Today the villa is a municipal museum, with changing exhibitions of works from the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as contemporary art.
Jüdisches Museum München
The municipal Jewish Museum, together with the synagouge and the Jewish Culture and Community Center, from an architectural ensemble in the heart of the city. The museum offers an insight into Jewish culture in Munich from the past and the present.
Exhibits and curious surprises present the works and lives of the comedian Karl Valentin and his partner Liesl Karlstadt. The exhibition on traditional singers illustrates the developments of the first pop culture in Munich.
On the old site of the long-demolished 'Braunes Haus', the former headquarters of the Nazi party, the Documentation Center for the History of National Socialism is a place of learning and remembrance.

The municipal galleries are presenting works of mostly young artists as a promotion of arts and culture.
