MediaMarktSaturn accelerator gets new name and extends its reach

(August 10, 2017) In the shape of the Retailtech Hub accelerator, MediaMarktSaturn and Plug and Play are now supporting growing tech start-ups in the retail sector that are keen to test initial products with customers.

MediaMarktSaturn originally launched the hub under the name MS Spacelab in 2015 as an initial accelerator program to promote engagement with the start-up community. Now, though, the program has shifted up to a new level: A strategic partnership with Californian start-up and venture funding platform Plug and Play has given the new Retailtech Hub access to international contacts and a corresponding reach.

The Retailtech Hub is headquartered in Munich's modern Neue Balan business incubator  (Balanstrasse 73). Start-ups selected for the program have the chance to use coworking office space free of charge.

First-round applications open until September 15

Until September 15, 2017, start-ups can still apply for the first round of mentoring and consulting at the new Retailtech Hub. This extremely flexible program normally runs for twelve weeks and is completely free.

The Retailtech Hub seeks to help innovative tech start-ups in the retail sector to grow in size. It also puts them in touch with international financial backers and incumbent firms. During the program, start-ups can get a pilot product ready for testing and solicit initial feedback from customers. All start-ups that meet the specified conditions can apply – including players from outside Bavaria and even outside Germany.
