English Speaking Theatre in Munich

The English Drama Group

The Drama Group of the English Department of Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München stages a play for a few days twice a year - always at the end of the semester. Winter performances normally take place over the period of a week at the beginning of February, Summer performances in early July. The actors are students of Munich, the director is an English lecturer of the English Department. The performances are very popular and well known for the students' commitment and enthusiasm, lively acting and the good choice of plays. For the exact schedule please consult the Department of English of the University in January/February and June/July respectively - just pop in and ask students or the secretaries in the rear part of the ground floor:

Pasinger Fabrik

Not a fixed institution, but certainly worthwhile looking at: Pasinger Fabrik often hosts English speaking drama groups for a few days or weeks - in a very informal atmosphere and with the stage so close to the audience, wherever you sit you have the feeling of being centre stage. Just have a look regularly at the schedule of Pasinger Fabrik and you might end up enjoying a most hilarious evening.

American Drama Group Europe

The ADG Europe tours the whole of the continent and frequently stops in Munich too. All actors are native speakers, normally from Canada or the U.S.. The projects promotes not exclusively but mainly American Drama in Europe and the world.

When in Munich, the group performs at the Amerika Haus, home to the Bavarian-American Center for cultural relations, research and exchange between Bavaria and the Americas.

Entity Theatre e.V.

Founded in 1999, Entity Theatre is committed to the
workshop principles of allowing participants time to develop and have
fun. Actors are encouraged to experiment within the evolving framework.
This gives Entity its unique dynamics. No performance is exactly the

MYTH (Moving Youth Theatre)

MYTH (Moving Youth Theatre) is a new project based in Munich. They perform modern English theatre at schools and offer workshops for pupils, teachers and people outside of schools. Along with their one-act-plays goes a package that includes workshops and preparation material for teachers as well as ideas of what to do with a class after the show. Their slogan is „I hear- I forget. I see- I remember. I do- I understand“.
