Why the Geiger Archive is worth a visit:
Geiger's works can be admired throughout Munich, for example on the walls of the Technical University or in the form of the sculpture "Gerundetes Blau" in front of the Gasteig. In the Geiger Archive, you can travel back to their place of origin.
What to see? The museum, which is located in the artist's former studio rooms, preserves and presents Geiger's legacy. The Munich architect made a major contribution to the art of the post-war period. A selection of his works are presented here in changing exhibitions. There are regular guided tours and workshops, and by appointment, you can also view and/or purchase Geiger's original prints outside of the regular opening hours.
What's special? From the studio to the pigment room: The museum is a place that makes abstract art accessible to everyone. The tour offers unique insights into the life and work of the artist. Colorful splashes of paint still bear witness to the original use of the rooms.

Rupprecht Geiger: An artist with ties to Munich
The archive was opened in December 2010 - on the occasion of the first anniversary of Rupprecht Geiger's death (1908-2009). The artist's granddaughter, Julia Geiger, is the head of the archive and keeps the art of her grandfather (and also her great-grandfather, Willi Geiger) alive.
Rupprecht Geiger was born on January 26, 1908, in Munich, where he lived and worked for the most time of his life. The studied architect made a significant contribution to the post-war art of painting. In 1949, he co-founded the ZEN '49 artist group in order to make abstract painting accessible to a broad audience.
His work is still present in public spaces in Munich today. Geiger was honored with numerous awards for his work, including the Cultural Award of the City of Munich and the Bavarian Maximilian Order for Science and Art
