America, Africa, Orient: What exhibitions are there to discover?
The exhibitions give a general overview of different non-European cultures. Here you will find objects of daily life and works of art from all over the world in one place. There are permanent exhibitions on the following themes: Africa, South America, North America, Oceania and the Orient. In addition, there are changing special exhibitions on current topics.
Ethnology and ethnography: why is it worth visiting?
Cultural dialogue, openness to the world and respect for people are the guidelines that the museum has on its agenda. With its founding year of 1862, the museum is considered Germany's first ethnological museum. It was called the "Staatliches Museum für Völkerkunde" until September 2014.
