How to reach Munich Airport from the city center - and vice versa

Connections from the city center to Munich Airport

S-Bahn, bus or car: Direct connections to the airport

S-Bahn

S-Bahn (suburban train) lines 1 and 8 make sure that reaching Munich Airport by public transport is not a problem. You arrive conveniently below the terminal. Both S-Bahn lines travel through Munich's city center with stops at Marienplatz or the central station. The traffic operator MVV offers an Airport-City-Day-Ticket for single travellers or groups of up to 5 people. It is validated upon purchase and can be used for travels between Munich's city center and the airport in both directions.

Airport Bus

The Lufthansa airport bus will take you to the airport at convenient 20-minute intervals. It starts at two stops in Munichs city center - central station and Schwabing (directly at the U-Bahn station Nordfriedhof). Once you reach the airport, several stops keep foot travel to a minimum.

Parking at the airport with free transfer

If you have driven your car to the airport and parked it at holidaymaker parking areas P 41 / P44 / P 20 or P 90 for the duration of your trip, the parking ticket allows you to take the S-Bahn free of charge (from the Visitors’ Park to the airport). From P 44, you can take the bus line 635 to the terminals also free of charge by presenting your parking ticket.

Transfer-, Limoservice

Transfer service buses provide an additional option for travel to the airport, particularly for residents of more distant locations. You simply order a bus that will pick you up at home and drop you off after you have returned from your trip.

Regional trains

Since 2018, it is also possible to reach the airport from the eastern part of Bavaria by regional train. The FEX (Flughafen Express) runs between Regensburg and Munich Airport with several intermediate stops, including Freising as the terminus of the S-Bahn line S1 from Munich.
