In everyday life in Munich you won't need perfect language skills. But in some situations – especially if you want to work or study in Germany – you might want to enlist the assistance of professional translators. In Munich there are more than 500 translation offices. But not all of them are licensed and can certify official documents. Some of the offices also engange simultaneous translators for international conferences or translators who accompany a business trip or negotiations.
All these services are commercial. The prices depend very much on what kind of service you need and are usually also negotiable.
International students should check the universities' International Offices first. They often offer to certify references and reports for only a little fee or even free of charge.
