Munich went on the hunt for goals at Odeonsplatz

On Wednesday, 14 June 2023, exactly one year before the start of the European Football Championship in Germany, a "One-Year-To-Go-Event" was held at Odeonsplatz. The people of Munich were asked to be goal scorers: everyone was allowed to take part in the 9-metre shoot-out and try to score a goal to reach the symbolic 366 goals together.

Sports mayor Verena Dietl, sports officer Florian Kraus and Munich's Host City ambassador Dr Felix Brych did not miss out on the opportunity. The latter led the way with three goals, but Dietl and Kraus also hit the bottom left corner with their attempts.

"Taking the people of Munich with us, just being there, experiencing the football: That's the most important thing!" said the mayor. "We were also allowed to shoot a few times - and even scored goals," added the sports officer.

Ambassador Brych is also really looking forward to the tournament: "The anticipation is really palpable today. One year to go - let's go!"

"Giant Trophy": photo shoot with the European Championship trophy

Another highlight on Odeonsplatz was the "Giant Trophy": right next to the artificial turf pitch was a European Championship trophy over 3 metres high, in front of which you could take photos or selfies. There was also music and a DJ at the countdown event.
