So delicious and purely plant-based: vegan food in Munich

Tips for vegans: Nice Munich restaurants with plant-based food

Munich is a great place to be vegan. We have tips on where to find vegan breakfasts, hearty Bavarian delicacies and unusual burger creations.

Max Pett München
Lionman

The classic: Max Pett

The classic at Sendlinger Tor, if you want to treat yourself vegan. Max Pett offers its guests an extensive menu and a daily changing selection. The offerings range from soups, antipasti and salads to schnitzel and, of course, a bowl, as well as ice cream and cake specialties.

Every month, Max Pett comes up with a special for its guests. Whether "Detox Weeks" or "Testival": Here, the opinion of the guests is in demand and is also reflected in the composition of the menu.

After a visit to Max Pett, you are wonderfully full - and still remain sober. Because at Max Pett, the beer and wine are also alcohol-free. Instead, there are interesting thirst quenchers such as raw food lemonade or, as an aperitif, a forest walk shot with spruce cedar essence.

Vegan Wirtshaus: Bodhis

Bodhi München
Lionman

Bavarian cuisine also works very well vegan. Bodhis at Westend proves that. It describes itself as Bavaria's only vegan Wirtshaus.

Here the guests are spoiled with Kässpatzn, Tempeh Rouladen, forest mushroom ragout and fine Kaiserschmarrn. Bavarian classics - purely vegan, homemade and very tasty.

If you don't feel like Bavarian food, you'll find an interesting selection of creatively composed burgers on the menu, such as the Pulled Jackfruit Burger or the Asia Burger with seaweed salad, and also a Rösti Burger with apple chutney.

  • Tip: After the Oktoberfest is over, there's the biggest vegan brunch in the whole city here every Sunday from September to March - definitely try it out. So, to be on the safe side, make a reservation beforehand!

Mediterranean snack: Erbils

Erbils München
Lionman

If you're feeling hungry and you're near the Ostbahnhof, you're in luck: The vegan kebab spit is on all day at Erbils Orient Lounge on Breisacher Straße.

There is a large selection of salads, pide breads with different toppings, vegetable dishes and falafel. Mediterranean and vegan - that's the motto of the bistro.

  • Tip: For a sweet finish, try the baklava with soy cream and cinnamon or the cheesecake with silken tofu. All homemade, 100% vegan and at a fair price. A glass of tea comes free of charge!

Furry and vegan: Katzentempel

Katzentempel München
Lionman

Caring for animals starts on the plate, which is why vegan nutrition and animal welfare are inseparable. The owners of the Katzentempel (English: cat temple) live their conviction together with their six temple cats.

In Germany's first cat café, all the furry inhabitants come from animal welfare. They could not have found a better place: Fool's freedom in the café and animal-loving guests by whom they are petted. Cat lovers who like to have breakfast with a furry cat on their lap are in seventh heaven here.

On the menu: a changing weekly special and a varied selection of different bowls, soups and salads.

  • Tip: The wonderfully creative cakes and pies. Whether peanut butter cream with goji berries, chocolate-avocado tart, or peach-chia-coconut cake - every slice is worth a sin.
