Schnitzel from regional pork at the "Wirtshaus in der Au"
The "Wirtshaus in der Au" has a history of over a hundred years and is still a popular local restaurant today. The ambience: Bavarian cosiness with tavern tables made of solid oak. In summer, the great beer garden with 120 seats attracts visitors. The Schnitzel from the Swabian-Haellish pig with mustard coating and horseradish is served with a potato and radish salad. And it goes along best of course with a freshly tapped Paulaner beer. Enjoy!

Wednesday Schnitzel in the "Deutsche Eiche" (German Oak)
A legendary restaurant name: The German Oak used to be the regular restaurant of the local gay scene. The most famous guest: "Queen" singer Freddie Mercury, who lived in Munich from 1979 to 1985. Today, every wednesday is Schnitzel day here - the selection is large. On all other weekdays you will find the classic Wiener Schnitzel "Eiche Art" from the veal on the menu.

You fancy an original Wiener Schnitzel? Then head off to the Kaisergarten in Schwabing! The Schnitzel comes from veal and is served with fried potatoes, cranberries, apple horseradish and salad. If it is warm enough you should definitely sit outside: The Schnitzel tastes twice as good at the wooden tables under old chestnut trees. At Kaisergarten you will meet a nice mixture of students, young mothers and lawyers on their lunch break.

Schnitzel in the city at Café Mozart

Opera Schnitzel in "Spatenhaus"

In the Spatenhaus next to Munichs opera house the Kufflers, one of Munich's most famous host families, serve great middle-class cuisine. Still the legendary "Original Kuffler Wiener Schnitzel is on the menu both above and below. Perfect after a visit to the theatre or opera, because the Spatenhaus is open until 0.30 a.m. or 1 a.m.

Great value and right in the middle of the city is Andy's Krablergarten. There is an extensive Schnitzel menue from traditional style to own unique creations. But the baked pork schnitzel with potato and cucumber salad as a side dishes is of course also served here.
Student Schnitzel at "Im Steinheil 16"

One word says it all: huge - a pork cutlet Viennese style in XXL. If that's too much for you, you can even have the rest wrapped up for take-away. Yes, that's quite normal at "Steinheil 16" in Maxvorstadt. The Schnitzel are served predominantly to a student audience - either with slices of potatoes or with fries, in advance there's a decent plate of salad.
