Summer festivals in Munich

Every Summer, there are many festivals that take place in Munich - you should not miss! We have put together a few tips to help and introduce you to some of these annual events.

Note: The following events have been put on hold due to the corona situation in Munich. Details to come soon!

University summer party (Uni-Sommerfest)

Why you should go: Uni-Sommerfest is a cult party for all students. The main building of the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich becomes a party area with themed stages and discos, including an open-air disco in the southern courtyard. Perfect for warm summer nights!

Who you will meet: Students, students, and even more students! And anyone who still feels like one.

Harras-Fest

Why you should go: This small neighbourhood party has regularly taken place since the re-opening of the Munich square "Harras" in 2013 following a complete facelifting. The festival always features a cultural programme, hands-on activities, Punch and Judy show for little ones, and a morning pint - here there is truly something for everyone.

Who you will meet: Families from the Sendling neighbourhood and the whole of Munich celebrate together.

District festival "Angertorstraßenfest"

Why you should go: This party on Angertorstraße, located right between Müllerstraße and Blumenstraße in Munich's Isarvorstadt district, heralds the start of CSD Pride Week. With info stalls, beer gardens, dancing and music, Munich's lesbian scene celebrates summer. From midday, the largest lesbian street party in Bavaria gets going with DJs, while beer gardens offer refreshment for breaks between dances.

Who you will meet: Girls, queens, ladies, LGBTQ, whether lesbian or not - everyone is welcome.

Folk festival "Magdalenenfest"

Why you should go: The Magdalenenfest party in the Hirschgarten park is something of an insider tip in terms of folk festivals. Market traders present their wares across many stalls, offering everything from saucepans to dirndls, the traditional dress worn in Bavaria. Bumper cars, boat swings, and bungee trampolines get children truly excited.

Who you will meet: This traditional festival offers plenty for both little ones and adults.
