Thoroughly typical of Munich - that is how the Augustiner by the Cathedral can be described. The popular public house with a view of the Cathedral is cosy and traditional. For the clear kitchen concept "Nature Pure" Peter Schmutzer's team was awarded the first place of the Upper Bavarian Gastronomy 1st Prize in 2010 in the category "Bavarian Cooking superior".

In the Augustiner by the Cathedral "Nature Pure" means showing the clarity of the foodstuffs unadulterated. The dishes are served without any trimmings to avoid covering their taste. They are delivered fresh and home made every day. The chef Erwin Reusch uses regional products such as fresh trout from the Isar valley Aumühle or ducks from the Lugeder farm. Or he chooses his own products such as the grainy mustard or Schmuter's fire red roast sausages. The menu centres on Bavarian-Munich delicacies, accompanied by excursions into the Austrian and South Tyrolean cooking. In addition the Augustiner by the Cathedral regularly offers seasonal specialities on its weekly menu. The beer to go with them - the Augustiner - flows fresh from the wooden barrel.

The congenial atmosphere results, on the one hand, from the rustic ambience and, on the other, from the excellent service employees who lovingly take care of the guests' creature comforts. That is why the Augustiner by the Cathedral is not only an address that can be recommended for the lunch break or the glass of wine after work, but also for family celebrations, company parties, conferences or presentations.
