Information on reservations, tradition and character in the Oktoberfest tent
Festzelt Tradition at the Oktoberfest
The Tradition Festzelt at the Oidn Wiesn stands for Oktoberfest in its original form: brass band music, traditional costume groups and lots of Bavarian conviviality - just like the Oktoberfest used to be. But this tent isn't actually that old and it also has some very modern aspects to offer, such as being very family-friendly. Here you can find all the information you need, from booking to the special features of the tent and the beer served.

Oktoberfest tradition of the tent: Starting signal for the Oide Wiesn
Even though the Festzelt has this name, it does not have a comparatively long tradition at the Oktoberfest. In 2010, the 200th anniversary of the Oktoberfest was celebrated, and to mark the occasion, a historical Oktoberfest was recreated on part of the Theresienwiese - where there was also a “historical beer tent”, today's Festzelt Tradition. After this “Oide Wiesn” was very well received by the people of Munich, the city council decided to continue this part of the Oktoberfest. Since 2011, the Festzelt Tradition has also been located on the Theresienwiese.
The tent is modeled on the festival halls of the past, which can be seen, for example, in the fact that there is a dance floor and the ceiling is low. In addition, the colors are kept rather simple in order to create more Bavarian quaintness.
Atmosphere in the Festzelt Tradition

First things first: the place is not a party tent. As the name suggests, tradition is written in capital letters here: Only Bavarian brass band music is played by changing groups and there is no dancing on the benches. The traditional atmosphere is also created by Schuhplattler, Goaßlschnalzer and other traditional groups who regularly perform in the tent. Another special feature is that the beer is served in chilled stone mugs, which keeps it fresh for longer.
The Festzelt has a long tradition of catering for families: there is a limo fountain for the little ones, baby carriage parking and special children's toilets with changing tables.
