Since 1872, a gruesomely humorous Oktoberfest custom has had its home on the theater stage. Several times a day, the “decapitation of a living person on an open, brightly lit stage using a guillotine” is performed here. Admission is free for children under 12. There are two new plays in the program every year. Manfred Schauer and his group lure visitors to the theater with humorous sayings. It's worth stopping by for that alone!

Newly built Oktoberfest tent with a fresh music program

While heads are turning on the theater stage next door, the brand new Schichtl tent serves regional Bavarian specialties for a snack. The new tent offers space for 364 guests and the façade, which was in need of renovation, has been restored to its former glory. Also new is the Papa-Schichtl-Bar with two highly qualified academic bartenders.

In the evening, the six singing and sound artists of Zamm'grauscht from Trudering perform on the now even larger stage. During the day, the tried and tested duo Larissa & Klaus continue to delight guests. Every Sunday at 1:30 pm, the opera singer Anton Klotzner from South Tyrol performs and belts out snappy opera melodies for a quarter of an hour.

Manfred Schauer has been running the Schichtl since 1985, the fourth owner in 156 years. In 2006, the theater was expanded to include the pub.

Table reservations at the Wirtshaus im Schichtl at the Oktoberfest are possible with the online reservation form (German). Depending on the time of day, reservations include a minimum consumption. Also included is one theater ticket per person.
