Besondere Werke aus der ständigen Sammlung
MUCA: Unveiling
Bewundert Highlights der Urban Art: Seit 2. Januar 2026 zeigt das MUCA unter dem Titel „Unveiling“ wieder besondere Werke aus seiner ständigen Sammlung. Darunter befinden sich Arbeiten von weltbekannten Street-Art-Künstlern wie Banksy, Shepard Fairey, Keith Haring oder Invader.

Viele Werke erstmals seit 2022 wieder zu sehen
Über die Jahre hat sich das Museum of Urban and Contemporary Art eine beeindruckende Sammlung aufgebaut, die heute rund 1.200 Objekte umfasst. Letztmalig waren Werke aus dieser Kollektion 2022 in München zu sehen, viele waren zuletzt in Asien „auf Tour“. Nun können prägende Künstler*innen der Urban Art wieder in München bewundert werden.
„Im Laufe der Entwicklung des Museums haben wir die Sammlung um bedeutende internationale Künstler und Künstlerinnen aus den letzten drei Jahrzehnten erweitert. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf der Einordnung dieser und der bereits in unserer Sammlung vertretenen Künstler und Künstlerinnen im größeren Kontext der zeitgenössischen Kunst des 21. Jahrhunderts“, so Stephanie Utz, Mitbegründerin des MUCA.
In der neuen Dauerausstellung gibt es Einblicke in die Entwicklung der Street Art der letzten 25 Jahre. Viele Werke wurden bereits angekauft, als heutige Größen wie Banksy oder Keith Haring noch aufstrebende Newcomer waren.
Das bietet die neue MUCA Digital Area
Seit Februar 2026 gibt es im Untergeschoss des Museums auch einen Media Room, in dem die Besucher*innen interaktiv in die Welt der Urban Art eintauchen können. In der neuen „MUCA Digital Area“ warten sechs verschiedene Medienstationen auf euch, Highlight ist dabei die „MUCA Digital Graffiti Wall“. Hier bekommt ihr eine digitale Sprühdose in die Hand gedrückt, mit der ihr euch mittels moderner Digitaltechnik selbst als Sprayer*in versuchen dürft.
In Kooperation mit dem Kulturreferat und den Museen
Dieser Beitrag über die Münchner Museen wird vom Kulturreferat der Landeshauptstadt München gefördert und ist in Kooperation mit der Landesstelle für die nichtstaatlichen Museen in Bayern konzipiert worden. Die Inhalte wurden zwischen den beteiligten Museen und muenchen.de, dem offiziellen Stadtportal, abgestimmt.
